COVID-19 Precautions for Kids – Tips on How to Send Students Back to School

But what about kids? Schools are starting to open all over the world and parents are worried that once out of sight, their kids will not take the necessary precautions.

So, let’s focus on how else you can help your kid transition back into the school routine:
1. Give Them a Dose of Familiarity
What was a school night like before COVID-19? Was there a sleep schedule? How much screen time did your kids get? Did you help them arrange their backpack and uniform? To get them back in the zone, set the same old routine so that your kid doesn’t have any anxiety in the morning.
2. Create a Study Area at Home
A great way to remove distractions when your kids are doing homework or studying for a test is to create a study area for them. Provide them with a quiet environment and give them everything they might need to complete their assignments.
3. Get Involved
Ask your kids how their school day was and if they learned something important. Help them with their homework and projects and encourage them every now and then so that they know they are doing a good job.
4. Pack Healthy Meals
Since COVID-19 attacks the immune system, pack healthy meals in their lunch boxes. Here are a few suggestions of immunity-boosting foods:
- Citrus Fruits
- Veggies (Red Bell Pepper, Broccoli etc.)
5. Ask About Their Struggles
Most parents help their kids physically in whatever way they can. While this is a great starting point, you also need to truly listen to their problems. Perhaps, they are feeling a little anxious about going back to school. It brings back all the feelings when they were the new kid and got bullied.
Maybe, all this time at home has gotten them worried that they might not perform as well as they used to. You need to address these worries and make sure that they understand you are there for them.
The most important thing to remember is to help your kid slowly settle into the same routine they had when they were regularly going to school. This will give them a sense of familiarity and allow them to wake up happy and ready in the morning.
